Robert Mattingly is a 66-year-old, family-owned business in its third generation of leadership. The late Robert T. Mattingly of Louisville, Ky., founded the general construction company in 1941. In the years following the company’s inception, the bulk of construction fell in the residential arena, but some light commercial work was completed. The company progressed at a steady rate, eventually specializing in retail, medical, office, industrial, commercial and multiresidential projects.

Robert T. Mattingly managed the entire company until the mid sixties when he brought his three sons into the firm. After Mr. Mattingly’s death in 1975, the company continued under the direction of his sons: Charles R. Mattingly, COO; Lee Mattingly, CEO; and Terrance Mattingly, Secretary Treasurer. Terrance Mattingly retired from the company in 1983. To continue the family tradition, Charles and Lee brought their sons, Bob and Sean, into the business. Both sons attended Eastern Kentucky University, majored in construction management and are now officers of the company. Bob Mattingly serves as Vice President, while Sean Mattingly is the company’s current President.

Today the company is a well-established, financially sound general contracting firm with a proficient management staff and a wide variety of experience in the construction of industrial, commercial, medical and multiunit residential projects. Through the years, Robert Mattingly & Sons, Inc., has provided efficient and economic construction services to the Jefferson County area, as well as surrounding communities, and has developed a host of satisfied clients.
